The art of Home: Upper Saddle River ShowHouse

Project Name

Residential for Aspire Magazine

Sector

Upper Saddle River, New Jersey

Location

For The Art of the Home, Rachel drew inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s seminal essay A Room of One’s Own, creating a secondary bedroom and bath that celebrates the concept of a creative, personal sanctuary for women. The room features two striking portraits by José Lerma, sourced in collaboration with art advisor Donald Christiansen from Chelsea Art Group, and selected from the Nino Mier Gallery in SoHo. With their layered impasto style and simultaneous nod to both abstraction and classical portraiture, the artworks shaped the emotional tone of the space, evoking a mood of creativity and comfort.

Modern bedroom with a bed, velvet bench, and two colorful abstract portraits on the wall, with a sitting area by the window
Modern bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower on the left, featuring a rainfall showerhead, and a dark wooden double vanity with two sinks on the right. The vanity has two oval mirrors, and a black wall with a row of globe lights. Two windows provide natural light, one with a white blind and the other with a view of trees outside. The floor has a geometric black and white tile pattern.
Modern living room with abstract portrait painting on the wall, blue armchair with pillow, wooden desk with lamp and chair, window with trees outside, rug with grid pattern, and textured dark wall.
A home office with a wooden desk, a black and wood chair, a window with a black shade, and a colorful abstract painting on the white wall.
